Mamata has long been a thorn in the BJP’s side, but her comments have left observers wondering if she’s willing to share power or cede ground. Her recent remarks suggest that she may be putting aside these differences – at least temporarily – to take down the BJP.
The Trinamool Congress chief’s change of heart comes as the party struggles to recover from its disastrous performance in the recent Assembly elections. Many high-profile leaders defected to other parties, and Mamata’s comments about them were laced with venom.

Mamata's call for unity is a welcome move, but let's not forget that Bengal politics has been marred by short-lived alliances and crumbling coalitions in the past. She'll need to demonstrate more than just words; concrete policy decisions and power-sharing arrangements will be essential to convincing her partners to put aside their differences. Moreover, it remains to be seen whether her party will swallow its pride and accept a secondary role within the INDIA bloc.

The elephant in the room remains Mamata's track record of backstabbing her allies and abandoning them at the first sign of trouble. Her claim to put aside ego is laughable given her history of ousting leaders who threaten her grip on power. Unless she addresses this glaring issue, it's hard to see how she can genuinely expect others to trust her leadership and follow her into battle against the BJP.

Mamata's call for unity is music to my ears, but let's not forget that Bengal politics is notorious for its ability to swallow even the most tantalizing alliances whole. The INDIA bloc's fragile coalition will need more than just warm words from Mamata to overcome their deep-seated differences and trust issues. Unless concrete steps are taken to address these fundamental problems, this unity drive risks becoming just another casualty of Bengal's treacherous politics. We need to see real action on the ground before we start popping champagne corks for a united opposition.
